Lloyd Perrin is a highly versatile and accomplished producer, film music composer, and writer in Europe. He has equal expertise in composing orchestral scores and creating cutting-edge dance music. Lloyd's musical journey began at the age of 5 when he started playing the violin, piano, guitar, and horns. He reached a grade 8 proficiency in all string and brass instruments, as well as the piano, and is skilled in playing various other instruments. This makes for a spectacle in the studio as he jumps effortlessly from one discipline to another.
Lloyd studied Music Composition at Coventry University, where he honed his skills in writing for orchestras. He even won a national competition with an original piece that was performed at Leicester Cathedral. After signing with an independent label, Lloyd moved to London and started his career in bands before transitioning to producing various genres such as dance, drum & bass, pop, hip hop, and R&B.
His career quickly gained traction, and he achieved an underground hit with Gracious K's "Migraine Skank". Lloyd's records were signed by major labels including Warner, EMI, AATW/Universal, Island/Universal, and Sony RCA. Moving on quickly to Devlin’s break out single ‘London City’ described as a seminal contribution to grime. He also secured a publishing deal with Notting Hill Music. Lloyd's ability to merge classical music with urban beats, combined with his talent for lyric writing, made him the ideal choice to score and produce for Vertigo Films StreetDance 3D. The film and its soundtrack were highly successful, reaching number one in the Box Office and achieving platinum status.
In 2019, Lloyd signed as an artist under the name Papa Zeus, heralding a new era for his dance productions. Papa Zeus gained recognition through his debut track "About You", released via Warner Records. The song blends mainstream accessibility with a timeless songwriting style and soulful vocals, poised to become a future classic. It revitalizes the beloved CeCe Peniston hit "Finally" by infusing it with heavy bass, insistent percussion, and pitch-shifted vocals, giving it a fresh modern twist while staying true to the original version. "About You" was championed by Scott Mills and received widespread support, amassing over 20 million streams and counting. Papa Zeus also released the Warner priority single "They Don't Know Me" featuring Justin Jesso, which incorporates live horn sections and bass. Additionally, his remix for chart-topping artist Wes Nelson followed the same sound aesthetic and received positive feedback. Papa Zeus demonstrated his keen sense of trend by creating the viral sensation "Oh No" on TikTok, with hundreds of millions of videos featuring the sound. This video was viewed 178 million times in 2022, as creators couldn't get enough of it.
